See the Cute Couple Recreate Their Wedding Album at the Same Church with the Same Dress After 50 Years

Half a century later, a couple has reproduced their wedding album in the exact same location and attire—the church.

In March 1971, Carolyn and Kelly Gay, who are currently in their sixties, tied the knot in a white ceremony at their neighborhood church.

Exactly 50 years to the day after their original photos were taken, the couple went back to DSM First Church in Des Moines, Iowa, to celebrate their golden anniversary.

The pictures matched the church perfectly because it featured the same alter, cross, and candelabras as it had at their first ceremony so many years earlier.

Grandmother-of-four Carolyn spent three years growing out her hair for the shoot, and she even got to wear the same clothing she wore in her twenties.

Sam Hoyle from Two Hoyles Photography captured the updated images; he even succeeded in include a photo of Carolyn’s late father, Rolland Swalking her down the aisle.

The new photos took an hour to an hour and a half to capture, according to Carolyn, and it was a lot of fun.

The church has been painted a few times since then, but recently they scraped it off and restored it to its natural color. It looks fantastic.

During the photo session, Carolyn and Kelly retrieved the original wedding receipts and found that the whole cost, including the honeymoon and feeding almost 200 guests, was about $340.

Carolyn’s outfit came to $46.35 plus $8.24 for modifications, and the total cost of the catering for 193 guests came to $63.82.

The largest outlay was $131.84 on flowers, while the cost of their four-night New Orleans honeymoon was $91.20 plus $0.36 for gas.

But after all these years, why take the hassle of reliving their wedding? Carolyn shares, ‘I have a wedding photo that I really,

really loved. It was taken from the balcony, and it shows a picture of Jesus watching the wedding and all the guests that came.’
