People criticize the woman for rescuing the ‘poor baby’ of her husband’s ex-wife from foster care.

In 2018, Wesley Werts, 45, and Christie Werts, 48, got married after falling in love. They combined

families as well because they each had two kids prior to getting hitched. They attempted to start a family after getting married.

‘I’m in my forties so we knew that we would probably need fertility treatment, so I thought let’s

just think about it and what will be will be,” Christie said in an interview with Newsweek that was published on July 30, 2023.

She had no idea that she would give birth to a miracle child. Wesley’s ex-wife gave birth to a boy in August 2021, however she passed away.

She and her new boyfriend both struggled with drug addiction, and at 33 weeks pregnant, she delivered the child early.

The sister of the deceased woman subsequently got in touch with Wesley, who wasn’t aware of her pregnancy.

Christie was convinced she had to adopt the child after hearing the tale. She didn’t want him in foster care because she had been in

the system ever since she used to reside there after turning 15 years old. Before then, Christie had been having reoccurring dreams about a baby with blue eyes and blond hair.

I experienced this dream repeatedly for three months. He was a toddler at moments and a baby at others, she added.

She wrote on Instagram, ‘God put this baby on my heart months before we even knew about him.’ She also shared a video showing his growth.

The family sold their home in Ohio and relocated to Texas to foster the infant, Levi, in order to adopt him because the child’s biological father was still involved and lived there.

After a 16-month process that they assumed would be simpler because Levi’s aunt and half-siblings were involved, they finally finalized Levi’s adoption in January 2023.

Christie first worried that she might not develop a relationship with the child, but she was mistaken.

‘I fell in love the moment I stepped in and saw this infant with golden hair and blue eyes. It was quite strange,

she remarked. My son was this. When she first saw him, even my daughter (Megan) exclaimed, ‘He has our button nose!’

Since his mother just gave him a surname, Levi was referred to as ‘Baby Werts’ throughout the adoption procedure.

According to Christie, ‘on paper, he was a child with no first name, no birth certificate, and was a ward of the state.’

‘It was very emotional just to know he would have a birth certificate (and) a legal first name.’

Christie thought Levi’s mother gave him the last name Werts as a hint that her ex-husband should adopt him.

According to Christie, ‘She already had two other children taken away from her, and two more were in foster care.’

After his birth, Levi experienced some hand issues, but these soon went away. The pair revealed that

they intended to tell Levi about his biological mother when he was older after someone on social media urged them not to forget about her.

However, following the Daily Mail’s Facebook post, other individuals condemned Christie.Someone said, ‘There are some things you don’t share with the media, sorry, and this is one of them.’

‘So you adopted your husband’s ex wife’s baby and you needed all social media to know about it,’ a second individual said.

Poor baby, he’s going to grow up seeing this and it’s going to cause him a lot of depression and more. Keep this to yourself, it’s not worth the money, ma’am.

Others, on the other hand, were complimentary and praised Christie for her good nature.
