Demi Moore Shows Off At 60 And Becomes Icon For Women Of All Ages

Demi Moore is an icon in her own right, and as she gears up to celebrate her milestone 60th birthday in November 2022, she’s hoping to defy cultural norms and feminine expectations with a new swimwear line honoring health and beauty at any age.

Moore rose to fame in the 1980s. According to Biography.com, Moore hit the big time in 1985 when she portrayed Jules in “St. Elmo’s Fire.” Moore became a core member of the Brat Pack. According to Insider, the term Brat Pack was coined by New York Magazine journalist David Blum to describe Hollywood’s rising young movie stars. The Brat Pack consisted of Emilio Estevez, Anthony Michael Hall, Rob Lowe, Andrew McCarthy, Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald and Ally Sheedy.

Moore made her leading lady debut in “Ghost,” where she starred alongside Patrick Swayze. Her performance earned her a Golden Globe nomination. Goldberg ranked “Ghost” as one of Moore’s most outstanding performances, while her roles in “A Few Good Men” and “About Last Night” were ranked second and third.

Since then, she’s dominated the screen, appearing in movies such as “Striptease” and “G.I. Jane.” At one point in the late 1990s, she was the highest-paid actress in Hollywood. She later enjoyed a resurgence with supporting roles in movies including “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle” and “Rough Night.”

After stepping away from the glitz and glam of Hollywood to raise her daughters- Moore slowly stepped back into the limelight. These days, the mother, actress and ambassador is showing off how amazing she looks at the age of 60.

Moore has been an icon for several decades, starring in a wide range of films and showing off her beautiful looks and personality along the way. While Moore has found a great amount of fame from her time on the big screen, she has also been a hot topic of discussion for many years over her former relationships, including her past marriages to Bruce Willis and Ashton Kutcher.

The year 1987 is when Moore and Willis’ former love story began. According to Us Weekly, the pair tied the knot in November that year after previously meeting at the premiere of the film “Stakeout” just a few months earlier. Afterward, they started a beautiful family together and welcomed three daughters into the world: Rumer, born in 1988, Scout, born in 1991, and Tallulah, born in 1994.

While Moore and Willis appeared happy in the public eye, there were some complications behind the scenes. They shocked the world in June 1998 when they announced their separation and filed for divorce two years later. According to Us Weekly, their divorce was finalized the same day they submitted their paperwork in October 2000.

In an interview with The New York Times in 2019, Moore shared that before stepping away from the entertainment industry for a while, she struggled with harsh public criticism. Moore said that being in the public eye “was an honor, and with that came a lot of negativity and a lot of judgment towards me, which I’m happy to have held if it made a difference.”

Not only did Moore take the acting field by storm as one of the leading ladies of the 1980s and 1990s, but she also fought for equal pay. Gwyneth Paltrow said she laid the way for women in acting. “She was really the first person who fought for pay equality and got it, and really suffered a backlash from it. We all certainly benefited from her,” Paltrow shared.

However, dealing with public and private situations, Moore decided it was time to focus on her family rather than fame.

Stepping away from the glitz and glam to focus on raising her family, the star raised her three daughters away from big cities. Instead, Moore whisked the girls away to her home in Idaho. In an interview with People in 2008, she shared that she believed it was the right thing to do at the time.

“It’s hard to say no to curious teenagers when exciting events or things are happening. You can’t live in a bubble. A key thing and I’ve said this before, is to try to help your children be good decision-makers,” the actress said.

However, the mom is grateful for the experience. “I’m grateful for the grounding that being away from (Hollywood) gave them. As to being back, I’m still learning, too. Can I say that I’ll look back and everything was the right choice?” she said. “I’m sure I won’t. But that’s part of understanding that none of us are perfect, and I’ve never been exactly in the place that I am right now,” she added.

Her daughters have said that the divorce between their parents never impacted their childhood in the first place. In an interview with Larry King, Rumer said, “I never had to split up vacations or split up birthdays.” She went on to say they always did events as a family unit. “They always made an effort to do all of the family events still together and made such an effort to still have our family be as one unit, as opposed to two separate things, which I think really made an impact.”

On top of being a person who is a beautiful role model, Moore is also an extremely beautiful woman. However, her looks have changed a bit over the years, leaving fans to wonder if the actress has ever had any work done.

Speaking with The Guardian back in 2007, Moore addressed the rumors that she’d spent $3 million on plastic
to get the body that she has. She told the news outlet:

“It’s irritating. And it isn’t true. To fight it feels futile because I feel it perpetuates the myth. But really, the culmination for me was when there were multiple reports I had my knees done. When I read that, I thought: wow, should I have been worried about my knees?”

She added:

“It’s not just my knees. They say I’ve had multiple face surgeries. I was in getting a facial recently and there were reports that I’d been in there for countless hours, saying I’d had surgical procedures. Am I going to sue? Do I really care?”

A few years later, in 2010, Moore admitted to getting some work done, but it wasn’t on her face. Instead, she told British Elle, as reported by the Daily Mail:

“I have had something done but it’s not on my face. You know what? Maybe one day I’ll go under the knife. It just irritates me that people are constantly saying how much I’ve spent on plastic .”

She went on to liken the constant accusations of plastic to “school-yard name-calling.” Certainly, it’s difficult to be a successful woman, let alone one that’s often judged by her looks, but it seems that Moore gets more than her share of accusations from the press and fans alike. Unfortunately, the criticism didn’t let up for some time.

After walking the runway at the Fendi show in 2021, Moore was thrilled with the experience and even spoke about it with iconic supermodel Naomi Campbell, who also walked in the same show. She told Campbell during an episode of her “No Filter with Naomi” YouTube series:

“It really was a teenage fantasy fulfilled. I took a moment and I thought, ‘Oh my God, I just walked a runway show with some of the biggest models ever.’ I literally felt like a little kid.”

Moore added that “it was very powerful” and that it felt “special” to her, not necessarily about all the clothes, but rather “the full story.” She stated:

“It felt very magical and moving. It was extremely memorable.”

But her appearance on the runway got fans talking about how different her face was and that she didn’t look like herself at all. As reported by In Touch Weekly, one user on Twitter wrote:

“Have you seen Demi Moore has had more plastic ?”

However, fans are still eager to learn more about Moore and her beauty routine. Along with her vulnerable memoir, Moore has used her social media and platform to show her fans her day-to-day life, from sharing sweet family photos to makeup-free selfies.

Fans have become obsessed with Moore’s natural beauty and are begging for her skincare routine.

For Moore, beauty is more than just skin deep. While speaking on a panel for Paltrow’s Goop, the “Brave New World” actress sat down with W Magazine and explained that her beauty secret is healthy eating.

“Look, I don’t have any super big secret,” she said. “But I definitely think beauty starts on the inside. You can do anything you want to the outside, but if the inside isn’t looking or feeling good, then I don’t know if anything you do on the outside is going to be good enough.” One of the ways Moore keeps her body is by abstaining from drinking alcohol.

Moore pairs her clean diet with a great facialist to keep her youthful appearance. “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” actress referred to her treatments with the L.A.-based facialist and energy healer Terri Lawton as a “whole mind-body experience.”

“I also really respect her opinion on products,” Moore said. “because I know it’s very aligned with my view that they have to be active, but really clean.”

Moore encourages fans to keep their skin care regimen simple and easy but effective. Another piece of advice she received from her mother is to keep her skin moisturized. In a video for Harper’s Bazaar, Moore explained how skincare was enforced by my mother at an early age.

“My mother always drilled in me no matter what that you should wash, cleanse and moisturize your skin,” she said.

Moore said while she enjoys the glamorous aspects of her life, “when I’m in Idaho, it’s generally overalls all day, every day.”

“I do appreciate fashion, and I have a relationship with designers who I respect and admire. But I still feel like a little kid who gets to dress up and who I am at heart is a grubby 12-year-old boy who really likes to just be comfortable and wear baggy clothes,” she said, adding that her “biggest teachers” when it comes to fashion are her three daughters.

“It is a mutual exchange of style inspiration. When they’re being themselves, that’s the most inspiring for me. I saw my youngest daughter wearing this vintage Japanese silk robe, and I looked at it and said, ‘Is that from my storage?’ And she said, ‘Yes, I liberated it.’ In the end, it’s going to all go to them anyway, so why not let them dip in?”

However, this doesn’t mean Moore doesn’t enjoy a good glam collab. She can now count herself as a designer after collaborating with the inclusive swimwear brand Andie. She also served as the model for the Demi Moore x Andie capsule campaign, looking svelte, healthy, and happy while lounging in beautiful sunlit locales across the French Riviera.

In the campaign pictures, Moore looked stunning. There were shots of her on a boat in a black string , a stunning two-piece, a luscious white one-piece and a mottled brown swimsuit.

Moore said that with the collection, she wanted to show that women should not have to be trapped by the expectations of society and the outdated belief that women of a certain age can no longer be sensual or alluring. “It’s changing this idea that women become less desirable as we get older,” she told People.
